A man has been charged after allegedly mocking the Ibrox disaster during the Old Firm derby last weekend.

Police say a 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a breach of the peace during the fixture on Sunday, March 1.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Police launched an investigation after a supporter allegedly mocked the tragedy during the 2-2 draw.

Officers made a number of arrests during the derby fixture.

A Rangers spokesperson said: “It is frustrating and upsetting to be dealing with another instance of tragedy abuse.

“After a similar event last season, an individual was prosecuted, highlighting there are serious consequences for such actions.

“The club will fully support the authorities in any investigation into this matter.”

Celtic have been contacted for comment.
