Man charged in connection with 'indecent act' at university premises

A man has been charged in connection with an alleged indecent act which took place on a university premises in Glasgow.

Officers received reports of a male performing an indecent act on himself at a building on the Glasgow University campus on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday and later charged. He was due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a report of a man performing an indecent act on himself at a premises on Hillhead Street in Glasgow on the afternoon of Sunday, October 20, 2024.

“He’s due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, October 22.”

Glasgow University has confirmed that officers were called to address an alleged incident on campus.

A university spokesperson said: “We can confirm police were called yesterday to address an incident on university premises.

“The safety and security of our staff and students is always our number one priority.

“It is rare for members of staff to call the police to incidents on campus. However sometimes it is necessary to call the authorities for the safety of those in our community, or for the wellbeing of those involved in an incident.”
