A man is due to appear in court over two robberies at petrol stations in North Ayrshire.

The first robbery occurred at the Esso garage on Glasgow Road in Ardrossan at around 1.50pm on Tuesday.

A member of staff was taken to hospital as a precaution, but was not injured, according to police.

Just after 4pm on the same day, a second Esso petrol station on High Road, Saltcoats, was targeted.

Police have now confirmed a 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with both robberies.

A spokesperson said: “A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with robberies in Ardrossan and Saltcoats on Tuesday, September 15.

“The man is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 17.”
