A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an 82-year-old grandmother in Glasgow.
Emergency services were called around 4am on Saturday to a report of a woman injured in Cardowan Road in the Carntyne area of the city.
Elizabeth Colligan, known as Betty, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers arrested a 30-year-old man, who STV News understands to be her grandson, Grant McKinnon, in connection with the death.
Gary ReedMcKinnon appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with murder and sending a grossly offensive, obscene or menacing message.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody to appear again court in the next eight days.
