A man has died in hospital after being struck by a car in South Lanarkshire.
The incident occurred on Meikle Earnock Road in Hamilton in the early hours of Sunday when a pedestrian was hit by a silver Skoda Octavia.
Emergency services attended the scene at around 12.35am, and the 43-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver was uninjured and the road was closed to allow for crash investigation work before re-opening at around 8am.
Police are now appealing for information as they look to establish the full circumstances.
Sergeant John Houston said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this very difficult time.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
“We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time to check if they have dash-cam footage that can help with our investigation.”
