A man has died outside Glasgow’s safer drug consumption facility.
Police taped off an area near to The Thistle centre on Hunter Street after the alarm was raised around 10.20am on Sunday March 8.
Police said the man died outdoors and that the circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.20am on Sunday, 8 March, 2026, we received a report of a death of a man outdoors in the Hunter Street area of Glasgow.
“Enquiries are ongoing however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The Thistle opened in January 2025 as the first safer drug consumption facility in the UK.
It is run by Glasgow City Integration Joint Board – a partnership between the council and Glasgow’s health board.
A council spokeswoman said: “We are assisting police with their enquires and it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
