Police have launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was found seriously injured on a Glasgow street.
Offices were called to Slatefield Street in the Gallowgate area of the city at 12.20am on Sunday, where a 44-year-old man was found.
The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.
It is believed he was attacked between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, in either the Slatefield Street or Comley Park Street area.
Police say CCTV inquiries found five men, all dressed in dark clothing, to be in the area of the assault at the time and they are keen to speak to any of these unidentified men.
Detective sergeant Chris Lafferty of Police Scotland said: “We are carrying out extensive inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding what is being treated as an attempted murder, to trace whoever is responsible.
“Our inquiries are ongoing but we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything or who was in the area at the time and may have seen five men in dark clothing as they may be able to assist with our investigation.”
Anyone with information is being asked to contact police on 101, quoting the incident number 0068 of May 10.
