A man has gone on trial is on trial accused of murdering his partner.

Alexander Brennan is accused of killing Brodie MacGregor, 23, at her flat in Glasgow’s Springburn in August 2024.

Prosecutors claim Brennan punched and slapped Ms McGregor.

The murder charges go on to state Brennan also repeatedly struck the young mum on the face, head and body with glass bottles, some of which were broken, as well as hitting her with a microwave plate.

Brennan is further said to have inflicted blunt force trauma injuries by means unknown.

He also faces a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

This features an accusation that he got rid of bloodstained jeans in a clothing collection bin, also in Springburn.

It is claimed that Brennan did this in a bid to “conceal evidence” and “avoid arrest” for the crime.

He is separately accused of assaulting Ms MacGregor before the alleged killing.

Brennan pleaded not guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to the four-charge indictment.

The prosecution is led by advocate depute Alan Parfery, while Brian McConnachie KC is defending. 

The trial continues before Judge Lord Scott.
