Man hit by bus he had stepped off before being found dead in road in Blanefield, Stirling

A man found dead on a road in a Stirling village was hit by a bus he had disembarked from moments earlier.

The 64-year-old was discovered late on Monday on Blanefield’s Glasgow Road having stepped off a passing McGill’s service.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

It is unclear whether the driver of the bus was aware the man had been hit at the time of the incident.

A spokesperson for McGill’s said they were co-operating with police.

“One of our vehicles was involved in an incident in Blanefield on Monday evening,” they confirmed.

“We are cooperating fully with Police Scotland.”

Road policing officers investigating have traced the bus involved, but are now appealing for further information from drivers who may have passed the area at around 11.55pm.

Inspector Andrew Thomson said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.

“It has now been established the man was struck by a bus that he had just got off. The vehicle has been traced and enquiries are continuing.

“I would appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information on this incident. I am also keen to hear from any drivers on that road with dash-cam footage.
