A 43-year-old man has been arrested after being caught in possession of a knife following reports from dog walkers in a park in North Lanarkshire.
Police were called at around 10.10am on Monday to Tombs Park in Coatbridge, after receiving reports of a man carrying a knife with a 4-6 inch blade.
A 43-year-old was searched and found to be in possession of a knife and, after failing to provide his details, he was arrested.
He was found to have an outstanding warrant and was charged with having a bladed article in a public place.
The man was held in custody to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “About 10.10am on Monday, December 23 2024, officers attended the Tombs, Tombs Park Coatbridge after reports from dog walkers that a male was carrying a knife with a 4-6 inch blade.
“A 43-year-old male was searched and found to be in possession of a knife, he failed to provide his details and was arrested and taken to a local police office where his identity was confirmed.
“He was charged with having a bladed article in a public place, failing to provide his details and he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He was held in custody to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court.”
