A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a “much-loved brother” in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to a home on Fairholm Street in Larkhall at around 10pm on Saturday, following reports of a 32-year-old man being found with serious injuries.

Iain Kennedy was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he later died.

Jordan Muir, from Larkhall, faced four charges when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, including murder and assaulting a police officer.

The 27-year-old made no plea. He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Muir is due to appear in court again within eight days.
