A man has been left in a critical condition after he was struck by a car whilst he was exiting a taxi in Motherwell on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to Burnside Road in the Newarthill area of the North Lanarkshire town at around 1.50am.
The incident involved a grey Skoda Karoq striking a male pedestrian as he exited a taxi.
The 66-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw and later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
His condition is described as critical but stable.
Sergeant Ross Allison said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and haven’t already spoken to police to get in touch.
“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”
