A man is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash involving a car and a lorry towing a trailer in South Lanarkshire.

Officers are appealing for information following the two-vehicle crash on the M74 near junction 13 in Abington which took place around 3.50pm on Friday, October 4.

The crash involved a white Volvo HGV with a trailer and a blue Kia Niro car.

A 67-year-old man, the driver of the car, was taken to University Hospital Wishaw for treatment to serious injuries.

There were no other reported injuries.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.

“We also ask any drivers in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 2484 of October 4, 2024.”
