A man was left seriously injured following an attack in an East Ayrshire village on Saturday night.

At around 7.30pm on Saturday, February 4, a 29-year-old man left a flat on St Germain Street, Catrine, when he was assaulted by another man.

He sustained a number of injuries to his face and body as a result and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Medical staff have described his condition as stable.

Police are now appealing for information to trace the suspect who attacked the man.

The suspect is described as white, of a heavy build and had a dark beard. He was wearing a beanie-style hat and a dark denim jacket.

He then made off towards Wood Street.

Officers have been making door-to-door enquiries and checking CCTV in the area.

Detective Constable Graham Cuthill said: “The motive for the attack has yet to be established. 

“From our enquiries, the suspect walked off after the attack towards Wood Street. 

“We would ask anyone who was in the area, especially motorists with dash-cam footage, or anyone who has any information that may assist officers with their investigation, to contact police via 101
