A man has been jailed over a “vicious attack” using a glass bottle on board a train.
The incident took place on January 5 this year on the train between Inverkip and Wemyss Bay.
Ross Wilson, 29, from Kilbirnie, pled guilty to serious assault and possession of an offensive weapon, having attacked a 23-year-old.
While on-board, Wilson broke a glass bottle on a table and used it to slash a man across the face.
As a result of the assault, the man required stitches for a laceration wound on his face.
At Greenock Sheriff Court this month, Wilson was sentenced to seven months and four weeks in prison.
BTP Detective Constable Neil Adams said the sentence should serve as a “stark warning” that violence will not be tolerated on the railway.
“This was a vicious attack and I am pleased that Wilson will spend his immediate future behind bars,” he said.
“Our investigation led us to Wilson and we quickly traced and arrested him in connection to the attack.
“This sentence should serve as a stark warning to others that violence will never be tolerated on the railway.
