A man who was walking towards a village has died after being struck by a van in Argyll and Bute.
Emergency services were called to the A85, in Dunbeg near Oban, following reports of a collision between a pedestrian and a VW Transporter at around 10.10pm on Monday.
A 37-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The road, which has been shut since the crash, remains closed to allow collision investigators to conduct enquiries and drivers are asked to avoid the area.
Police are now seeking witnesses to come forward. The pedestrian was last spotted walking towards Connel village carrying a backpack adorned with numerous soft toys.
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3539 of February 16, 2025.
Sergeant Robert Mackie said: “I am appealing to anyone who was in the area last night who may have seen the man walking towards Connel to get in touch with us.
“He was carrying a distinctive back pack as it was adorned by numerous soft toys.
“I would also ask motorists with dash-cams to check their footage as there may be images which could assist our investigation.”
