A man knocked a 76-year-old unconscious after a noise row on a bus.
William Harvey, 36, punched the man in Glasgow’s Kingston on October 29 2023.
Harvey initially walked into the pensioner when he was told to leave the bus by the driver due to an earlier incident with a man.
The pensioner – who tried to play peacemaker – then fell to the ground when Harvey struck him.
The victim was left permanently scarred after he suffered a head injury.
Harvey pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the man to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
The court heard Harvey, of the city’s Castlemilk, boarded a bus and was aggressive to passengers.
He shouted and swore then stated: “Go, start me.”
A passenger commented on Harvey being loud and was confronted by him.
Prosecutor Lauren Sangray said: “Harvey appeared to jerk his head forward as if to headbutt him and the pair struggled with one another.”
The driver asked Harvey to leave and as he walked out he bumped into the pensioner.
He asked Harvey to “calm down” to which he replied: “Who the f*** are you?”
Ms Sangray added: “[The man] tried to calm down the situation however, Harvey punched him to the face which caused him to fall to the ground.
“[The victim] banged his head off the pavement which made him lose consciousness for a short time.”
Police witnesses who witnessed the attack then grabbed Harvey.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for a bleed to the mouth and a head injury at the top of his crown.
He required four stitches to close the wound and will be permanently scarred.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Iain Fleming who granted Harvey bail meantime.
