A man knocked out three of a teenager’s teeth with one punch outside a bar in Glasgow.

Aaron Ramsey, 22, struck the then 18-year-old on Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street on October 15, 2023.

Plasterer Ramsey hit the teenager after they had earlier exchanged words at nearby Nico’s Bar.

The victim was later rushed to hospital by his mother where it was determined that his teeth would be unable to be re-implanted.

Ramsey pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the teenager to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

The court heard that the victim had been at the bar for an event with his friends.

Later on, Ramsey, of Cumbernauld, approached them outside and engaged in a “minor verbal disagreement”.

The victim initially walked away from Ramsey who then followed him.

Prosecutor Lauren Donnelly said: “Ramsey punched [the victim] to the face.

“A witness saw one of [the victim’s] teeth flying out of his mouth and saw blood on his mouth area.”

The teenager then got a taxi home but was later taken to hospital.

Ms Donnelly said: “He was found to have three teeth missing and had a wound to his upper lip which required four stitches.

“It was confirmed he will be permanently scarred and his teeth cannot be re-implanted due to the damage.”

The victim currently uses temporary dentures and will be referred for an implant when he turns 21.

Neal McShane, defending, told the court that “harsh words” had earlier been exchanged by the pair.

The lawyer added: “He lost his temper and struck [the victim] once to the face.

“He was shocked by the amount of damage one punch has done.

“He regularly went out and drank to excess but he has now moved on with his life with his girlfriend and doesn’t go to the city centre as much.”

Sheriff Matthew Jackson KC fined Ramsey £1,500 and ordered him to do 75 hours of unpaid work.

The sheriff said: “You will now know the consequences of alcohol misuse.

“I saw pictures of the injury and they’re horrible to look at.

“The fine is a significant sum of money and will remind you every week what you did and what you caused to him.”
