A man has been left with serious facial injuries following an attack in South Lanarkshire.
The 36-year-old victim was assaulted by a man on a path at Hillside Crescent at its junction with Hillside Lane, Hamilton, between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday.
The victim was taken to Wishaw General Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
Officers have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and will be checking CCTV from in and around surrounding streets for any further information which could assist the investigation.
Detective constable Andrew Sinclair said: “I am appealing to nearby residents to think back and consider if they saw or heard anything which could assist the investigation.
“In particular, I would ask motorists who were in the area to check their dashcams as it’s possible an image of the suspect may have been captured.
“Any small piece of information could prove vital, so please do call us.”
