A man has been taken to hospital with “serious injuries” after being assaulted in a shopping centre in Paisley.
Officers were alerted to the incident that took place on Friday around 5.15pm at Piazza Shopping Centre.
Police have established that the 57-year-old man was attacked by a group of male youths outside the toilets in the shopping centre.
The man was treated for serious injuries at Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Police confirmed that enquiries into the incident are “ongoing”, including CCTV, and officers have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Detective constable John Sharkey, from Paisley CID, said: “This was a violent and entirely unprovoked attack, which has left a man seriously injured.
“We believe a group of at least three young males were involved, having been seen in the area of the toilets at the time, and are asking anyone who saw the youths or has any information on the incident to come forward.
