A man has been taken to hospital after a tipper van burst into flames on a road in South Ayrshire.
Emergency services were called to the B746 Kilmarnock Road in Troon following reports of a transit tipper van on fire shortly before 4pm on Thursday.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent one appliance to the scene.
One man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.
A Police Scotland statement read: “The B746 Kilmarnock Road in Troon has reopened following a vehicle fire.
“A man has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.
“Road users are thanked for their patience.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.57pm on Thursday, September 11 to reports of a transit tipper van on fire on Kilmarnock Road, Troon.
“Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the scene to make the area safe and firefighters remain in attendance.
“One casualty has been transported to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
