Man attacked from behind by two people as he stepped off bus

The 39-year-old was taken to Hairmyres Hospital with serious injuries following the attack on March 18

A man has been left with serious injuries after he was attacked from behind in Hamilton.

The 39-year-old, who had just stepped off a bus on Burnbank Road, was punched and kicked by two people at around 9pm on March 18.

A member of the public assisted and called the police following the incident.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he was treated for serious injuries. He has since been discharged.

There are no descriptions of the suspects available.

Detective Constable Caroline Galloway, Lanarkshire CID, said: “If you were in Burnbank Road between 8.50pm and 9.10pm and have dashcam footage from the street or the immediate surrounding area, I’d ask you to contact police as it is possible you may have captured the assault or indeed the people responsible in the area.

“Please contact police with any information that may assist our investigation via 101. Quote incident number 3548 of Wednesday, March 18, 2026, when calling. Alternatively, details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
