Police are hunting four men wearing balaclavas following a serious assault in Lesmahagow.

A 37-year-old man was in the Boughden Way area around 8.40pm on Saturday when he was attacked by the group.

The victim was left with “significant injuries” and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Detective constable David McLaughlin said: “This was a serious incident which resulted in a man sustaining significant injuries.

“We are gathering CCTV footage from in and around the area on Saturday evening, and I’d appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch.

“Similarly, anyone local with private CCTV or doorbell footage or drivers with dash-cam footage should also contact us as you may have captured something relevant.”
