A man has been left seriously injured after being stabbed in a murder bid in Ayr.

Emergency services were called to a property in the town’s Mill Street around 4.15pm on Saturday.

A 34-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

Police are urging any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Davie Gillies, of Ayr CID, said: “The victim sustained serious injuries during this incident so we are urgently appealing to anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
