A man suffered a broken hip after being attacked in a row over parking.

The 64-year-old victim asked a woman to move her purple Skoda as it was blocking a driveway.

A man, believed to be in his 50s, then approached and punched him.

The victim was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock with a broken hip following the assault.

The incident happened outside a flat within the East Road car park – across from Aldi – in Irvine, North Ayrshire, at around 1.30pm on Monday.

Detective sergeant Peter Sweeney, of Saltcoats CID, said: “We’re appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.

“Similarly anyone who was travelling along East Road around 1.30pm on Monday and has dashcam footage, please contact us.”
