A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following an attack in Greenock.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the assault at around 10.30am on Wednesday on East Shaw Street.
A 49-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where medical staff describe his condition as “serious but stable”.
Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding to the attack to come forward.
Detective sergeant Alison Eadie said: “Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident are ongoing, and we urge anyone who may have information to come forward.
“If you have CCTV, doorbell, or dash-cam footage from the area, please review it and share anything of note with officers.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 0938 of February 12.
“Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
