Google MapsA man is to appear in court after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Coatbridge.
The incident happened when a 17-year-old girl was walking on a lane near Blair Road and Auldhame Street around 1am on Sunday, June 28.
An increased police presence remained in the area in the days following.
Police confirmed on Monday that a 27-year-old man was arrested and that enquiries remained ongoing.
On Tuesday, officers confirmed the man had been charged in connection and is due to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday, August 4.
Detective Inspector Lorraine Wilson said: “Incidents of this nature can cause a great deal of concern and officers are continuing to engage with the local community to provide reassurance.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their support during this investigation.”
