A man who died in a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A71 in North Ayrshire has been named by police.

Officers were called to the crash, involving a grey Kia Ceed and white DAF HGV, on the westbound carriageway between the Corsehillmount Roundabout and Warrix Interchange around 11am on Thursday, July 31.

The driver of the car, Abraham Torrance from Kilmarnock, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have asked for privacy at this time.

The road was closed for investigations and reopened around 4.40pm.

Constable Josh Forrester said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr Torrance and enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash and the events leading up to it continue.

“We are asking anyone who can assist with information, including dash-cam footage, to get in touch if they have not already spoken to officers.”
