Man who died in street incident which left three in hospital was in police custody

Officers said the death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

A man who died on a street in Glasgow in an incident which left three people in hospital was in police custody at the time of his death.

Emergency services were called to Berkeley Street around 6.45am on Friday morning following reports of a disturbance at a property.

Two women aged 25 and 40 and a 27-year-old man were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A 39-year-old man was also taken into police custody, before becoming unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Police said the death is being treated as unexplained and the man’s family have been informed.

Officers sealed off the street and a forensics tent could be seen on the road. Police remain at the scene on Saturday morning and enquiries are continuing.

Police say there is no threat to the wider community.
