A man who died following a disturbance in Paisley has been named after a suspect appeared in court charged with murder.

Richard Lee was found seriously injured on Greenock Road around 2.35am on July 3.

The 39-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

In a statement released through Police Scotland, Richard’s family said they are “devastated”.

“We all adored Richard. He will be very much missed”.

David Arthur appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday, where he was charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

The 40-year-old from Paisley made no plea and was remanded in custody pending further examination.

He is due to appear in court again within the next eight days

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “Our thoughts remain with Richard’s family and friends.

“We are continuing to offer support and are keeping them updated with the progress of our investigation.

“Additional officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns or information can approach them or call 101.”
