STV NewsA drunken man attempted to jump a fence at Hampden Park to attend a Rangers and Hearts Cup final without a ticket.
Ryan Stewart, 35, made the audacious effort before the match on May 21, 2022.
Stewart was due to meet friends from Edinburgh who went to the match which Rangers won 2-0, but he was late.
Prosecutor Chloe Lacey told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “Stewart tried to enter the stadium without a ticket by jumping a fence there.
“As he did this, stadium staff got hold of him.
“Stewart shouted and balled at staff before nearby police officers attended.
“He continued to shout and swear.”
Stewart, of the city’s Bridgeton, pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Garvey McArdle, defending, said at sentencing: “As he missed his chance to meet his friends he thought he would take an alternative route to get to the ground as he didn’t have a ticket.”
Sheriff Mark McGuire tagged Stewart for 72 days, keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.
He also banned Stewart from all football matches for two years.
The sheriff said: “These offences are too serious for admonition.
“Your conduct could have got others to act in the way that you did.
“A football match at Hampden between two of the biggest teams in the country – there could have been trouble and I cannot tolerate it.”
