A man who set fire to a car and was caught after he left his shoe behind at the scene has been tagged for nine months.
Thomas Campbell, also known as Thomas Stillie, 20, torched an Audi A5 in Glasgow’s Barlanark on March 28 2023.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Campbell started the fire around 9pm.
The blaze was later extinguished by firefighters and the car was later written off.
It was deemed that the fire was “wilful” as there was traces of accelerant that was used.
Prosecutor Victoria Keel said: “A Nike Air Max trainer and a fuel cannister was found close to the fire.
“Campbell’s DNA was present on the trainer and his fingerprints were found on the fuel cannister.
“Campbell was traced to his home where he was arrested.”
It was stated that the Audi owner’s insurance paid out £10,000 which went to a new car however his insurance premiums have risen.
Campbell, of the city’s Easterhouse, pled guilty to wilful fire raising.
Sheriff Iain Fleming tagged Campbell on Tuesday for nine months, keeping him indoors between 8pm and 6am.
He will also be under supervision for two years.
