Man who tried to murder friend bragged that he 'opened him up like a turkey'

A man who carried out a murder bid on his friend later bragged that he “opened him up like a turkey.”

Michael Fisher, 35, repeatedly struck the victim with a razor blade at his home in Stevenston on October 28 last year.

The High Court in Glasgow was told that the two men were heard shouting just before midnight.

A witness came across the victim, who was sitting in his doorway, bare-chested and covered in blood.

He was noted to have an open wound to his body, an injury to his hand and a potential broken thumb.

The man told the witness: “I’m going to die.”

Emergency services were contacted, and officers attended the property, which had signs of a disturbance, including blood on the walls, stairs and door.

The victim was found lying on the sofa, covered in blood and holding his hand.

At the same time, drunk Fisher had attended another property and tried to enter, but he was not allowed.

He said: “Fine, I’ll go and get lifted. Watch this, I’m away to get the jail.”

Paramedics took the victim to hospital where he was found to have a string of injuries.

This included a stab wound to his chest, which went through his lung.

He also sustained an open wound to his left thumb, which had dislocated his knuckle and was closed with sutures.

There were further wounds to his hands, knee and middle finger, which were also treated with sutures.

The man was discharged from hospital on November 16.

Fisher had been traced and arrested.

He told officers: “I carved him up like a turkey. I used a razor blade and kept cutting him. If you hadn’t come tonight, I was gonna murder him.”

Injuries were later found on Fisher’s face, torso, back and knee.

Fisher pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

Prosecutor Imran Bashir told the court that the victim has since passed away from matters unrelated to Fisher’s case.

It was revealed that Fisher has previous convictions for violence and blades.

The sentence was deferred pending background checks until next month by Judge Lord Scott, who continued Fisher’s remand in custody.

The judge told him: “Make no mistake, custody and a lengthy period of custody is coming your way.”
