A manhunt has been launched after a child was robbed of his electric bike last Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to West End Park in Coatbridge at around 4.30pm on February 11 when a 12-year-old boy was threatened and robbed by a man.

The suspect is described as white, of average height, of slim build with ginger hair and stubble.

He was wearing dark clothing and left with the bike towards King Street in Airdrie. He was later seen in the Waverley Drive area of Airdrie.

Detective Constable Glenn Coletta said: “Thankfully the boy was not hurt during this frightening incident however, he has been left extremely shaken.

“I am appealing to anyone in the vicinity of the West End Park who has private CCTV or dash-cam footage to please review this and see if it has captured anything of significance”

“In addition, anyone who has yet to speak to officers and witnessed the robbery is asked to get in touch.”
