Masked gang attack man with weapons in 'targeted' murder bid in Wishaw

An attempted murder investigation has been launched after a masked gang “targeted” a man in Wishaw.

Emergency services were alerted to a man being found with serious injuries on Wingate Street at around 1.30pm on Monday.

The male suspects all wore balaclavas and fled the scene in a grey SUV.

Emergency services attended and a 31-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Inspector Vicki Douglas said: “We believe this was a targeted attack on the victim and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and identify those involved.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed what happened, or noticed a vehicle driving off at speed, to come forward.

“We would be particularly keen to hear from members of the public with private CCTV or dashcam footage which could be of significance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident 1495 of Monday, August 17 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
