A bus operator has revealed it has stopped night services in a town in East Renfrewshire after a series of attacks on buses.
McGill’s revealed that the 3 and 51 services would no longer serve Auchenback, in Barrhead, from 5pm on Sunday.
The operator took the decision to withdraw the services “to keep everyone safe” following a number of attacks on board, it said.
McGill’s confirmed it is working with Police Scotland.
Announcing the cancellations on social media, a spokesperson said: “From 5pm onwards tonight, to keep everyone safe in light of previous attacks to our buses, the 3 and 51 will not serve Auchenback: 3 will serve Main St only in Barrhead.
“51 will run to/from Dovecothall Roundabout, Barrhead Main St. We await support from Police Scotland. Thanks.”
McGill’s, the UK’s largest independent bus operator owned by Scottish billionaire brothers Sandy and James Easdale, started running night services in and around Glasgow in August after First Bus announced it was stopping them.
First then reversed its plans.
