A man riding a mobility scooter has suffered “life-threatening” injuries being hit by an HGV in Glasgow.

Police were called to Paisley Road West around 11am on Friday following reports of a crash involving a heavy goods vehicle and mobility scooter between the junctions of Corkerhill Road and Dunellan Street.

The 54-year-old rider of the mobility scooter was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Police said medical staff described his injuries as “life-threatening.”

Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “This collision occurred on a busy road in the middle of the day, and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to please come forward.

“If you have any relevant dashcam footage or private CCTV that could assist our investigation or saw an e-scooter in the area prior to the crash, please contact us.”

Information can be passed to Police Scotland by calling 101, and referencing incident number 1014 of July 5, 2024.
