More than 50 firefighters are tackling an ongoing fire at a high-rise block of flats in Whifflet, with residents evacuated.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene on Calder Court in the town at around 6.45am on Friday to the fire within the flats.
Fire crews from 12 appliances, including specialist vehicles, were sent to the scene.
Images from the scene showed a number of flats on fire with residents being evacuated outside the entrance.
One eyewitness told STV News the alarm was raised by staff from CCG Construction at a site on nearby School Street at approximately 6.30am.
The construction firm opened up its canteen on Friday morning to allow residents to shelter.
Fire crews say the blaze is ongoing and enquiries are at an early stage.
