A motorcyclist has died following a multi-vehicle crash.

The collision happened around 1.45 pm on Saturday July 12 on the A82 northbound near Renton, West Dunbartonshire.

A 71-year-old was on a Harley Davidson with a side-car which was involved in the crash with five other cars; a black Volvo XC90, a Nissan Juke, a Vauxhall Corsa, a black Audi A6 sport and a grey Seat Leon. 

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The drivers of the cars were uninjured.

The road was closed while investigations were ongoing and re-opened about 8.10pm.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney of Road Policing West said: “Our inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened. Sadly, the male motorcyclist died, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

“The road would have been busy at the time and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1927 of Saturday, 12 July, 2025.”

The incident was among several fatal events reported across Scotland on the hottest day of the year.

On the same day, the body of a 15-year-old boy was recovered from Glasgow’s River Kelvin and a 39-year-old man was found dead in a river in East Lothian.

Elsewhere, a 63-year-old woman died after a fall near Campsie Fells, East Dunbartonshire and a 71-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the busy A82 near Renton.

A 50-year-old man was pulled from Loch Lomond near Ardvorlich but later died in hospital on Sunday July 13.
