A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a crash on the M8 in Glasgow.
Emergency crews were called to the motorway’s westbound carriageway near junction 13, at around 1.40pm on Thursday afternoon.
The 62-year-old male rider of a motorcycle, the only vehicle involved, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
Police said his condition is critical.
The carriageway appears to remain blocked as of 5.30pm on Thursday, with Traffic Scotland saying diversions are being put in place.
Police constable Gordon McAvoy, based at the Roads Policing Unit in Glasgow said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of this collision.
“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any dash cam footage to come forward.
“Please call 101, quoting reference 1829 of August 24.”
