Google MapsA multi-agency search of a bay in Dumfries and Galloway was stood down after a car was found.
HM Coastguard, alongside RNLI volunteers and police, conducted searches on Saturday after a car was found in the West Tarbet Bay area of Stranraer.
Coastguard rescue teams from Drummore, Stranraer, Portpatrick and Ballantrae were called around noon, and a lifeboat from Portpatrick RNLI was also sent to assist.
Following an extensive search, no one was found to be in distress, and the response was stood down.
It is understood that the incident was a false alarm with good intent.
