Two men have denied murdering a disabled man in a flat in Glasgow.

Patryk Jasinski, 31, and Jason McInally, 50, are accused of killing wheelchair-bound Tomasz Lipiec by compressing his neck, placing a plastic bag over his head and attempting to asphyxiate him.

It is also alleged they struck him on the neck with a knife, stamped on his head, punched him on the head and body causing blunt force injuries and repeatedly stabbed him on the body.

The accused appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday.

The offence is said to have taken place between September 5 and 6 last year at a flat in Dobbies Loan Place, Townhead.

It is claimed the pair stole holdalls, money, mobile phones, a bank card, a Polish ID card, a provisional driving licence, a television, a speaker and a power bank from the flat.

Jasinski and McInally are also accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by covering their faces to avoid being seen on CCTV, using the fire escape to exit the building and disposing of a knife.

QC Brian McConnachie, representing Jasinski, said: “The defence are ready for trial, unfortunately a trial cannot be set at present.”

Mr McConnachie pled not guilty on behalf of Jasinski and lodged a special defence of self defence.

McNally, who was represented by defence counsel Victoria Young, pled not guilty and lodged a special defence of alibi.

Both men deny all the charges against them.

Judge Lord Matthews continued the case until June 1 when it is hoped a trial can be set.
