A racist far-right group has confirmed it attended a protest in Glasgow, which left two police officers and three others injured earlier this month.
An anti-immigration demonstration involving a group of mostly young men dressed all in black took place on June 9, in the wake of the attempted murder of Stephen Ogilvie in Belfast.
Dozens of officers, riot vans, and a helicopter were deployed, with a large presence near St Enoch shopping centre and Buchanan Street in response to the unrest.
Two police officers and three members of the public, who were the victims of racist attacks, were injured.
One video, seen by STV News and shared in neo-Nazi groups, shows what appears to be a violent incident at St Enoch, in which attackers can be heard using racist language.
Police have arrested and charged three men, aged 31, 18 and 18, in connection with various offences.
Members of Patriotic Alternative (PA), a white nationalist group founded by former BNP youth leader Mark Collett, confirmed that they had attended the march.
In a documentary released by Channel 4 in 2002, Collett was caught on camera referring to Africans and homosexuals who died due to HIV-AIDS as “AIDS monkeys”.
The far-right group opposes all immigration unless they share the same ethnic background or can prove British ancestry.
According to PA, “white South Africans” would be among the groups granted asylum due to their “descent from European nations”.
The group shared images of members holding a number of banners outside Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, one of which read: “White Lives Matter, We Started The Fire.”
The far-right group also previously attended several demonstrations outside Falkirk’s Cladhan Hotel, organised by the local campaign groups Save Our Future and Our Kids Future.
In January, the campaigners announced that all protests outside the Cladhan Hotel had been cancelled due to others inviting the “racist groups” to demonstrations.
