Glasgow’s newest live outdoor music festival will get under way this weekend.
Featuring traditional Scottish and roots music, The Reeling will take place at Rouken Glen Park on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11.
The 5,000 capacity festival, described as “a celebration of Scottish culture”, has been created by promoter Michael Pellegrotti, who is one of the co-directors behind Skye Live Festival.
Some of the acts to feature over the weekend include Skerryvore, Breabach, GDàimh, Fras, RURA, and vocal harmony trio Sian.
The festival site will also feature some “unique” dining experiences among many other activities.
The Reeling festival director, Michael Pellegrotti, told STV News: “There’s a lot of great, exciting bands from there to get away for a long time, but fans are also up and coming, you know, like bands like Taylor Stewart, you know, had a huge growth in the last few years.
“And we’ve also tried to pick the next generation and showcase this as well, but also just showcasing a huge breadth of traditional music.”
Josie Duncan, who is set to perform at the festival, said: “I was so excited when I heard there was a festival like this going to be so close to home because that never happens.
“So I was just like, ‘Oh, I didn’t even realise I needed this’. But it makes so much sense. Like, why does it not exist already?
“Sometimes I see people more outside of the country than I do here.
“So it’s so ideal to have a festival in the hub of where it all happens because we’re always playing in the Sessions and places like this and we all know each other. And yeah, it’s kind of like a homecoming festival for us. So it’s really exciting.”
