'No further police action' after reports of rape at woodland in Oban

Police Scotland has confirmed that “no further action” will take place after an investigation into an alleged rape at woodland in Argyll and Bute.

Officers were notified on June 18 that a person had been raped at Dunollie Woods in Oban on Friday, May 15.

The force has since confirmed that all lines of enquiry have been explored as part of an extensive investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Gillies said: “I would like to reassure the public there has been a comprehensive investigation which included a search of the area by specialist officers.

“We have also carried out a thorough examination of CCTV footage and door to door enquiries.

“We know this has had an impact on the local community and I want to reassure them that all reports of sexual crime are thoroughly investigated.
