No proceedings to be taken against Iranian man following incident at Faslane

No proceedings will be taken against an Iranian man who allegedly tried to enter Faslane naval base.

A 34-year-old man from Iran and a 31-year-old woman from Romania were arrested following the incident on March 19.

Prosecutors confirmed in March that no further proceedings would be taken against the woman following a “full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances”.

The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service has now said that the 34-year-old man will have no proceedings brought against him “at this time”.

A spokesperson said: “The Procurator Fiscal received a report relating to a 34-year-old man and an incident said to have occurred on March 19, 2026.

“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the Procurator Fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.

“The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”

Officially known as HMNB Clyde, Faslane in Argyll and Bute is home to the Royal Navy’s flotilla of nuclear submarines.
