Nursery children help 'arrest' the Grinch after break-in scare

Nursery said they wanted the children to 'feel safe' after a recent break-in.

CCTV footage has been released of the moment children helped police arrest the ‘Grinch’ after a break-in at their nursery.

Ivy in the Park Nursery in Glasgow’s Carntyne was broken into on December 8 with the culprit smashing through a door to gain entry.

After the children noticed the boarded-up door, the staff decided to tell them that the Grinch had visited and smashed the glass.

While an investigation to track down the person responsible is ongoing, the nursery’s janitor devised a plan to give the children closure on the ordeal.

Alongside community police officers, he decided to dress up as the famous Dr Suess character and claim responsibility for the crime.

The children watched on dressed in hi-vis vests and police hats as officers “arrested” the Grinch and put him in the back of the van on Wednesday.

Annefrances McGrath, operations manager, said staff wanted the children to finish for Christmas “feeling safe and with the knowledge that their nursery is secure”.
