Over £300,000 worth of drugs have been recovered after a lorry was searched at Loch Ryan Port in Cairnryan.

Police searched the vehicle around 10pm on Thursday where around 33kg of cannabis and 5kg of cocaine.

The drugs had a total street value of £325,000.

A 57-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and is due to appear before Stranraer Sheriff Court on Monday, September, 11.

Detective inspector Graeme Robertson, Dumfries and Galloway Division CID, said: “This is a significant recovery, and represents joint working between Dumfries CID and officers at Loch Ryan Port, part of Border Policing Command.

“Police Scotland is committed to removing illegal substances from our communities and will take all measures to disrupt those involved.”
