Scotland’s “first-ever” wellness and music festival in Paisley has been cancelled due to low ticket sales.
Paisley Alive, scheduled for July 4 this year, has been cancelled after ticket sales failed to reach the target.
Rag’n’Bone Man and Scottish singer Emeli Sande were due to headline the festival at Barshaw Park after two years of planning.
Artists such as Sister Sledge, Cammy Barnes and professional fitness coach Mr Motivator were also set to appear on the bill.
The festival aimed to combine the “energy of live music with the joy of fitness and movement”, featuring daytime yoga, high-energy workouts, and self-care workshops.
Scott McFarlane, one of the organisers, announced the news on social media on Thursday.
“After a lot of thought and careful consideration, I’ve made the decision to cancel Paisley Alive this year”, he said.
“Despite strong early support and conversations with many of you across Renfrewshire, ticket sales haven’t reached the level required for us to deliver the event to the standard intended.
“Alongside this, rising infrastructure and production costs have made it impossible to move forward in a way that meets that standard.
“A significant amount of work has gone into developing Paisley Alive over the past two years, built on a genuine belief in what it could become. The intention was always to create something positive for the town, something new, and something the community could be proud of.
“Being a local guy born in Paisley, I know many of you were looking forward to it, and I’m sorry to disappoint. To everyone who supported the idea and bought tickets early, thank you.”
Refunds are set to be processed automatically, and customers should receive an email to confirm when their refund has been processed, organisers have said.
