A victim of the Park Inn stabbing has said a fatal accident inquiry into the circumstances of the incident will bring some much needed answers.
Max Grossoe was stabbed by Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh alongside two other asylum seekers, two members of staff and a police officer at the hotel in Glasgow on June 26, 2020.
The 28-year-old asylum seeker from Sudan was shot and killed by officers at the scene after attempts to use non-lethal weapons were unsuccessful.
The Lord Advocate has decided that it is in the public interest to hold a Fatal Accident Inquiry to examine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mr Grossoe welcomed the news telling STV News: “We need some answers. It’s been more than three years.
“People are trying to forget what happened, but we need some answers.”
He said that the warning signs were there and the incident could have been prevented.
“He said that he would do that, and it was just taken as a joke,” Mr Grossoe claimed.
“They should have helped him but they didn’t, and then innocent people like us, we never wanted to be stabbed.”
Police ScotlandHe added that an investigation would show who was “to blame” and hopes it will prevent a similar incident from happening again.
The decision to hold the inquiry follows a thorough and independent investigation by the Procurator Fiscal into the wider circumstances.
Mr Bosh’s family have been informed of the decision.
